Pacquiao vs Mayweather Advisory Deal is On

It's still a little too early to begin the celebrations, but for the optimists out there, Pacquiao Vs Mayweather - the super-fight the entire boxing world wants to see - is tantalisingly close to being made. This is the word being reported on a number of top boxing web sites and news outlets (I read the latest on Sky Sports' web site), as apparently, "Pac-Man" has agreed to face "Money" on March 13th of next year.

According to the Sky Sports News article, Pacquiao's advisor, Michael Koncz, told of how promoter Bob Arum presented the Filipino legend with a proposal at a breakfast this Friday whilst visiting Pacquiao in The Philippines..

"The requests of Manny were so realistic that Arum doesn't feel it's a problem and it's pretty much a done deal," Koncz told Sky Sports.

There are still a few details to be ironed out, but the fight many predicted would be an absolute nightmare to make is within reach already. Needles to say, if the mega-fight does go ahead, it will be a massive boost for boxing, and a fight that will bring in millions of dollars.

Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach also spoke to Sky Sports News about the way negotiations have been looking good.

"We talked to Arum and he had the March [13th] date and May 1st available," Roach said. "Manny chose the earlier date because of the elections in the Philippines, and I can't wait to get started. It will be the biggest fight of all time, the biggest pay-per-view event of all time and my main sparring partner [for Manny] will be Amir Khan."

Did I mention there are still a few details to be ironed out? According to Freddie, though he feels the negotiations can and will be worked out okay, one such item is the weight the fight will take place at.

"There's always negotiations, like he [Mayweather Junior] wants ten-ounce gloves and we want eight-ounce, stuff like that." Freddie continued. "The weight he wants [the fight to take place at] is 154-pounds, we want 147, so there's some issues but I think it can be solved."

Typical Floyd Mayweather; wanting the fight to take place at light-middleweight. No way would the man who turned pro down at a stick-like 106-pound agree to that. Maybe a compromise will be made, and Pacquiao will agree to another catch-weight fight, at, say, 150-pounds? Ideally, though, the fight should be a legitimate welterweight clash - as neither guy has any problems making 147. Hopefully, as Roach says, these details can be worked out.

It really does seem hard to believe that the monstrously huge fight that will pit pound-for-pound king Vs. pound-for-pound king could happen in just over three months. But, when two fighters are full of equal desire to take a fight (as is the case here it seems), any match-up can be made.

The hype for this one will sure be something. And as far as Manny's political goals are concerned; if he beats Mayweather, especially by KO, he could darn near run for emperor of his country!

Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight date hasn't finalize yet, so as whether this fight will really going to happen. But one thing is for sure for all boxing fan out there, Top Rank's Bob Arum is trying to make his best to finalize the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather.

Arum is currently in the Philippines to see Manny Pacquiao and discuss the terms of an agreement that the Mayweather camp represented by Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer had agreed to. Surely, by the next couple of days, we will all be cleared if where and when will be the mega fight in the world of boxing be happen. But just like how this big fight is getting attention to all boxing fans and other sports aficionado, the venue of the event is also been the the big question mark for all.

MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and Dallas Cowboys new stadium in Texas are the 2 places that is on the top of the list to become the venue of the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Top Rank also considered New Orleans Superdome.

According to Arum, Dallas Arena seats 100,000 with screens that was just built at a cost of about $1.5 billion and “its like a wonder of the world.” Arum added that the weather would not be a problem because the roof comes over when it suddenly rain. Arum also considers the tax situation, which he said that it would be the same as Las Vegas with no State income tax so that doesn’t present a problem for Manny or for Floyd as New York would, since it has a 14 percent tax.

Can Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight be finalize?

Pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao wants a 60-40 split to fight pretty boy Floyd Mayweather Jr., that was according to his trainer Freddie Roach.

"Manny believes he should get a 60-40 [purse] split too, because he did better in pay-per-view than Mayweather this year. Manny's the bigger draw," as Roach told LA Times. Bob Arum of Top Rank and Paquiao's promoter visited Philippines to have a talk to Pacquiao and will try to work out the deal for a Mayweather fight. On some sports news, it is said that Mayweather has already agreed to a March 13 fight, however it is not sure if Pacquiao will be willing to fight on the said date. As we all know that Pacquiao is seeking for a congressional seat for the Philippines and his camp indicate that he may not want to fight until after the 2010 May elections.

"March 13 is too fast a turnaround," Roach said. "Manny has a broken [right] eardrum" suffered in the Cotto fight. "I'd like to have more time. I hope the fight happens, yes, but I want us to be in the best possible shape.

Roach told LA Times that he rather have the fight in May and prior to this, it was proposed that the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight will be held on May 1.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather Talks

According to a report on ESPN.com, talks between Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. got underway Monday, with the two sides discussing a mega-fight between the men widely believed to be the two best boxers in the world.

The fight, which would ideally take place some time in early 2010, would pit Pacquiao- considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world- with the undefeated and largely untested Mayweather.

According to the report, Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions- who handles Mayweather- flew to Las Vegas Monday morning to discuss the fight with Bob Arum, of Top Rank. No further details were given.

Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KO’s), is coming off the latest in what has been a string of dominating victories for the Filipino champion last Saturday evening, with a victory over WBO Welterweight champion Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas. The win secured Pacquiao his seventh title in as many weight classes, a boxing record. Pacquiao's urine tests also came back clean this week as they have for his whole career.

As for Mayweather (40-0, 25 KO’s), Ring Magazine’s Boxer of the Year in 1998 and 2007, is coming off a dominating victory of his own recently, beating Juan Manuel Marquez in a September 19th unanimous decision.

Mayweather was considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world after victories over Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton in late 2007, before choosing to retire after Hatton fight. Mayweather’s match with Marquez was his first since returning from retirement.

With the two sides meeting, the heart of the negotiations will likely center on each fighter’s share of pay-per-view money.

Pacquiao is coming off last Saturday’s 1.25 million pay-per-view purchases, with the fight garnering more than $70 million dollars of television revenue. It is believed that between PPV and his gate share, Pacquiao made over $12 million on the fight. Mayweather’s bout with Marquez had 1.05 million buys.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather on March 13 scheduled fight. The potential mega bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is almost finalized according to news from Yahoo sports.
